SURABAYA | duta.co — PT Mega Buana Teknologi (MBT), an IT infrastructure solutions provider and a subsidiary of CTI Group, together with NetApp, a global cloud-based data services company, held a talk show titled “Improving Health Care Operational Efficiency Through Digital Transformation.”
The event took place at Four Points by Sheraton Surabaya on Wednesday (March 15, 2023), and featured speakers from the healthcare and technology sectors. They included Yeremia Sion, Solution Architect at PT Mega Buana Teknologi; Heru Eko Susanto, Sub Coordinator of Analysis and Monitoring at RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung; and Adrian Pramanta, Presales Technical Partner Manager at NetApp Indonesia.
The talk show was organized to share insights and best practices on advancing digital transformation, particularly within the healthcare services industry, with the aim of improving patient services.
RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung once again received the Top Digital Award in the Top Digital Implementation category at the end of 2022, having received the same award the previous year.
With this achievement, the regional public hospital owned by the Tulungagung Regency Government in East Java secured the award for two consecutive years. The hospital also earned a three-star rating out of five in the 2022 BPJS Trust Mark assessment.
The recognition is among the highest for the Regional Public Hospital category and indicates that the hospital’s information and communication technology services comply with standards set by BPJS Kesehatan.
RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung has also received recognition from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health for its success in utilizing digital technology to improve hospital performance through healthcare service innovation.
These innovations were implemented through improvements in hospital management systems by optimizing the use of digital technology, enabling services to become more effective and efficient while providing a better patient experience.
As a result, the Ministry of Health has designated RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung as a pilot hospital and a benchmark for hospital service governance reform initiatives in Indonesia.
Heru Eko Susanto said he was pleased to take part in the event, alongside information technology and digital solution providers, to discuss innovations and emerging trends in healthcare services.
He said the healthcare sector must transform both its business and service models by optimizing the use of technology and digitalization to strengthen hospital service governance.
“We hope our experience at RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung can serve as an inspiration for colleagues from other hospitals on how the use of information technology in hospital services and operations can become one of the strategies to improve public access to healthcare, enhance human resource effectiveness, improve service quality, and reduce healthcare costs,” he said.
At the end of 2021, the Ministry of Health released the Digital Health Transformation Blueprint 2024, which identified a key challenge in Indonesia’s healthcare sector: the development of a national health data system. More than 80 percent of healthcare facilities in Indonesia have yet to adopt digital technology, while health data remains fragmented across hundreds of different healthcare applications.
According to data from the Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI), more than 2,450 hospitals operate nationwide. Most are independently managed, lack international standardization and accreditation, and still rely on traditional systems for data collection and storage. This presents a challenge for digital technology service providers seeking to integrate data across hospitals in Indonesia.
Regulation of the Minister of Health No. 24 of 2022 on Medical Records requires all healthcare facilities to implement Electronic Medical Records no later than December 31, 2023. Healthcare providers are therefore required to prepare both infrastructure and technical readiness to meet the regulation.
