RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung demonstrated the practical impact of digital transformation. At the end of 2022, the hospital was honored with the Top Digital Award for Top Digital Implementation, repeating the recognition it had earned the previous year. This achievement reflects the hospital’s success in applying digital information and communication technologies (ICT) in accordance with the standards set by BPJS Health and signals that digital efforts are yielding measurable results.
Beyond that, the hospital also achieved a three-star rating from a five-star BPJS Trust Mark assessment in 2022, one of the highest recognitions awarded to regional public hospitals, indicating robust performance in service and standards.
The success of RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung has been recognized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, which commended the hospital for improving health services through better hospital management systems enabled by optimized digital technology. As a result, the hospital has been designated as a model institution and a benchmark for reforming hospital services nationwide.
Heru Eko Susanto expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the event, noting that it provided a valuable opportunity for healthcare and technology leaders to discuss innovation and emerging trends in health services. He emphasized that the healthcare industry must embrace business and service transformation by maximizing the use of technology and digital solutions to strengthen hospital governance and patient care. He also shared his hope that the experience of RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung would inspire other hospitals to adopt digital technologies to improve service accessibility, increase workforce effectiveness, elevate service quality, and reduce healthcare costs.
Looking at the broader context, at the end of 2021, the Ministry of Health of Indonesia released the Digital Health Transformation Strategy Blueprint 2024, which highlights the main challenge facing Indonesia’s health services: building a national health data ecosystem. The blueprint points out that more than eighty percent of health facilities in Indonesia still lack digital technology integration, and health data remain fragmented across hundreds of different systems and applications.
The Association of Indonesian Hospitals (PERSI) reports that there are over 2,450 hospitals across the country, many of which are independently managed without international standards or fully digitalized data collection and storage systems. This fragmentation presents a significant challenge for technology partners working to integrate data across multiple health institutions.
Regulation by the Ministry of Health (Permenkes No. 24 of 2022) mandates that all health service facilities must implement electronic medical records by the end of December 2023. This requirement means that facilities must prepare not only their infrastructure but also the technical capacity necessary to meet these standards.
Yuwono Pranata, CEO of PT Mega Buana Technology, expressed pride in the achievements of RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung and affirmed that the talk show was part of MBT’s commitment to support improvements in healthcare governance across Indonesia by leveraging digital technology to enhance patient care. He noted that with MBT’s expertise and NetApp’s digital solutions, they aim to assist hospitals in delivering better experiences and greater ease for patients to access quality healthcare services.
Adir Ginting, Country Manager of NetApp Indonesia, underscored that as healthcare providers accelerate their digital transformation journeys, the volume of data generated will continue to grow exponentially. He stressed the importance of using data more efficiently, securely, and in real time to develop and implement patient-centric solutions that elevate the overall quality of patient experience. Through their partnership with Mega Buana Technology, NetApp is committed to helping major healthcare providers and hospitals modernize and expand their data management systems, ultimately unlocking the full potential of health data.
